Reinterpreted in Souillac in the tradition of the great classics, it reveals a deep aromatic structure where wormwood and clove intertwine with a procession of secret botanicals. An aperitif of character, at once intense and elegant, conceived as much to elevate cocktails as to be enjoyed on its own, in all its singularity.

HISTORY

Originally from Italy, vermouth crossed the Alps to become a staple of French cellars and aperitifs. Maison Louis Roque has made its own this great classic, offering an artisan red interpretation from the Quercy, true to the spirit of the traditional flavoured wine, while rooting it in the terroir of the Quercy and the savoir-faire of Souillac.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

From the very first glance, the vermouth charms with its deep mahogany-red colour, bright and crossed with garnet reflections. Dense and luminous in the glass, it immediately catches the light and reveals a beautiful visual intensity. This warm and full-bodied colour already announces the aromatic richness and generosity of a characterful red vermouth.

Aromatic profile

The first nose opens with fresh and herbal notes of wormwood and aromatic herbs, offering a lively and expressive entry. The heart then reveals the full spiced richness of the vermouth with clove, nutmeg and orange peel, bringing warmth and complexity. Finally, the base reveals a rounder and more enveloping foundation of red wine caramel and gentle woody notes, extending the olfactory experience with elegance and depth.

TASTING

From the very first taste, the palate opens onto an elegant vinous sweetness, swiftly lifted by a gradual rise of spices, with clove asserting its aromatic signature. Wormwood then brings a fine and structuring bitterness, which balances the whole without ever dominating. The tasting extends into a long, aromatic and harmonious finish. Best enjoyed on its own over ice with a twist of orange, or in a cocktail, where it naturally takes its place in classics such as the Negroni or the Manhattan.
