The House's signature, Reserve Originale embodies the balance between the vibrancy of freshly picked fruit and the roundness imparted by wood. After long aging in oak casks, it reveals notes of almond and stone, a reminder of the fruit's heart. This is a timeless, reassuring cuvée. The fruit is genuine, powerful, and whole, delicately underscored by spices that make it unique.

History

Maison Louis Roque is based in Souillac and bears the name of its eponymous founder. Heir to a unique craft, it produces an emblematic French eau-de-vie: La Vieille Prune de Souillac. Faithful to its founder's recipe, Reserve Originale has been crafted under the same conditions for 120 years.

FIRST GLANCE

When you pour a glass of La Vieille Prune de Souillac, the first thing that strikes you is its color: a beautiful blend of amber and aged gold, with soft orange notes, almost as if the years had settled into the glass. Then bright, intense reflections hint at its clarity and freshness. Just by looking at it, you already know you're about to savor something singular, timeless.

At the upper edge of the glass: The first nose reveals the power of the fruit, even plum jam. The second nose moves toward a compote of plum, apple, and quince still on the heat, with spices like cinnamon and star anise.

Tasting

From the first drop, the attack is powerful and warm. Then La Vieille Prune coats the palate with a silky, rich taste of sweet, juicy ripe plum. The long finish reveals spice flavors, mingled with delicate notes of licorice and vanilla. Savor slowly and in good company with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a lightly warm, caramelized crème brûlée.
