The result of exceptional aging in French oak casks, Reserve Imperiale is the very expression of patience. Here, the vibrancy of the plum is ignited, smoked, and infused with wood, revealing unprecedented aromas. It then softens, opening into remarkable roundness and an impressively long finish. Candied, vanilla and delicately woody notes intertwine to create an eau-de-vie of exceptional character.

History

Maison Louis Roque is based in Souillac and bears the name of its eponymous founder. Heir to a unique craft, it produces an emblematic French eau-de-vie: La Vieille Prune de Souillac. Created over 40 years ago, Reserve Imperiale is a cuvée aged for an exceptionally long time in old French oak casks.

FIRST GLANCE

When you pour a glass of La Vieille Prune de Souillac, the first thing that strikes you is its color: a beautiful blend of amber and aged gold, with soft orange notes, almost as if the years had settled into the glass. Then bright, intense reflections hint at its clarity and freshness. Just by looking at it, you know you're about to savor something singular, timeless.

The first nose reveals a wide range of empyreumatic notes, of heated wood. The second nose unleashes the power of fire: smoked wood, toasted bread, and vanilla. The olfactory experience is remarkably rich.

TASTING

From the very first sip, the aromatic intensity is remarkable, yet balanced by sweetness and richness. Notes of vanilla, toasted bread, smoke, and a hint of peat emerge. Fresh coconut and candied orange also come to mind. The finish lingers with subtle bitterness and roasted notes, then brings a refreshing touch. Savor slowly with orangettes and a strong espresso.
