A truly special edition of La Vieille Prune de Souillac: the very first vintage from Maison Louis Roque, this 2015 cuvée, available in an extremely limited edition, comes from a single cask identified as exceptional. Only 120 numbered magnums were produced, each celebrating one of the House's 120 years. After ten years of aging in French oak casks, it reveals rare, exceptional complexity — between fresh plum, toasted notes and candied fruit.

History

Maison Louis Roque is based in Souillac and bears the name of its eponymous founder. Heir to a unique craft, it produces an emblematic French eau-de-vie: La Vieille Prune de Souillac. This 2015 cuvée celebrates the House's 120th anniversary through 120 numbered magnums and ten years of exceptional aging.

First glance

Tasting begins with the eyes: when you pour a glass of La Vieille Prune de Souillac, the first thing that catches the eye is its amber color: a beautiful blend of warm, deep caramel tones and soft orange notes, almost as if the years had settled into the glass. Then bright, intense reflections reveal its purity and freshness. Just by observing it, you can already sense you're about to savor a singular spirit, timeless.

At the upper edge of the glass: The first nose opens with the brilliance of fresh, juicy, vibrant plum. The second nose unveils a touch of exoticism, with passion fruit and clementine interplay in a burst of freshness and vivacity.

Tasting

The attack is remarkably smooth, as the alcohol has been completely tamed by the aging process. Plum dominates—here not cooked but fresh and tangy, which gives it its structure. The fruit is elevated by subtly toasted notes of noble wood, tree bark, and resin. On the finish, cocoa beans and candied apricot reveal themselves gently. Savor slowly with a square of dark chocolate with toasted sesame.
